La forteresse est elle-m\u00eame prot\u00e9g\u00e9e par des forts auxiliaires implant\u00e9s sur le mont Alban et sur la pointe Sainte-Hospice. Ce sont des ing\u00e9nieurs italiens qui r\u00e9alis\u00e8rent cet ouvrage adapt\u00e9 aux progr\u00e8s de l&rsquo;artillerie. Au XIX\u00b0S, l&rsquo;ensemble est transform\u00e9 en casernes.
