A Villefranche, plusieurs projets plus ou moins grandioses sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s mais ne seront pas r\u00e9alis\u00e9s. Il faut attendre 1931 pour voir s\u2019\u00e9tablir sur le plateau Saint-Michel, dominant \u00e0 la fois la rade de Beaulieu et celle de Villefranche cet h\u00f4tel baptis\u00e9 \u00abCh\u00e2teau de Madrid \u00bb, pastiche d\u2019un ch\u00e2teau fort moyen\u00e2geux.
